They are installed in 19"-racks. These racks are located along the beamline of the Super-FRS (Superconducting Fragment Separator), either directly at the beamline or in niches. The Super-FRS is part of the FAIR accelerator facility (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research), which is currently under construction in Darmstadt, Germany. At their operating location, the systems are therefore exposed to increased radiation levels and are difficult to access.
